Dead
Samaritan is a Death Metal band from
Finland, the one that brings us this Demo of
4 tracks which are into a Death – Speed
Metal which reminds me albums such as
“Heartwork “ by Carcass or a little of
the latestalbums by Deathsometimes
and some other quote of Melodic Swedish
Death Metal, so you can make your mind clear
about what you can find here.I actually enjoyed listening to this
production in some way, even when I am more
into more old school or raw stuff, but it
was kinda nice listening to this production,
because I found some aggressive parts
combined with some other more into speed or
heavy giving a kind of balance, but I must
say there was a track which I liked the
most, and this was “Smith & Wesson
Philosophy”.
Even when this Demo is nice, I think there
must be a way of doing it something more
interesting, so when a full album comes up
it might be more catchy to say it in some
way.

Greek
thrashers Haterain bring us a pretty
interesting CD immerged into mid to late 80s
Thrash Metal, with some similitude to German
Thrash some times, and American’s in
others. Depending on the track it could have
some influence in the riffing, sometimesreminding me Tankard or Vendetta, in
other tracks a nice combination of Megadeth
and Exodus, or even some very early Megadeth
or Metallica sound. It is really nice to
listen to a band which makes you start
headbanging as soon as you start listening
to thei music. One of the most peculiar
things of Haterain is the combination of
this old thrash riffs with the way the
vocalist works, which has a very German
influence. The only thing that I would have
preferred to be different is that the first
track, “Wave of Fury”, weren’t a long
instrumental, even when It is very well
played, It would have been better if it had
been a little shorter and going straight to
the killing material!
Great job the one Haterain is doing. I
can’t wait for their next release.
Tracklist:
1.Wave
of Fury - 2.Tornado - 3.Sent to the land
4.Where i dream - 5.Smashing the chains -
6.Human race - 7.Republic terror...the big
chess - 8.Countdown to demise - 9.Fire at

Mourned
by flies “Signs of life”: When at first
I read the biography of these guys, I
didn’t actually know what to expect. Will
they sound like bands such as Strapping
Young Lad or similar? Will they sound
strange or too strange to be understood?
Well, I must say this was the motivation
that impulse me to anxiously listen to their
“Signs of life” I must say I was quite
impressed, surprised and pleased by what I
heard. Mourned by Flies knew what to do when
composing their tracks, mixing Progressive
Thrash, Death, and even Grindcore with some
synths in some precise moments in order not
to sound dull or even ridiculous. Depending
on the song you can find some influences of
bands such as Hypocrisy, Anacrucis, or even
some Amorphis or early Nuclear Death among
the tracks, this combined with some passages
ala Strapping young Lad. I could say they
paid extreme attention to the way they wrote
these songs. These five American guys know
what they do, and how to do it. Very
interesting work the one we can find here in
“Signs of life”, this is the kind of
production that has the necessary elements
in order to not to be boring, but there is
only one warning, a purist or a musical
close minded person might not like this.
Tracklist:
1.The
Invocation of Gaahl - 2.Signs of Life -
3.Eviscerate - 4.Erased - 5.Into the Wake of
the Void - 6.Dying Circuit - 7.Simple Fix -
8.Nasci A Morte

Death Metal
Even
when I’m not so into the current melodic
type of Metal, what I would call Death Core,
this is a very surprising production. How
the Greek Everfailed have aimed the way of
playing this style in the 5 tracks
“Biological Order” it is simply more
than interesting. I consider myself a more
Old School Death Metal guy, but it does not
deter from saying a band which has a
different style have the nuts and the
technique of creating such a nice atmosphere
of well played music combined with a lot of
Power. I really liked how the musicians
performed their instruments, every single
minute you listen of this E.P. makes you
feel how comfortable they are when playing,
something that is sometimes hard to be
capture in a recording. Everything is more
than good, although the weak part for me is
the vocals. This guy does a good job, but
when having a band that plays not the common
style, committing themselves to combining
different musical tendencies and creatinga new monster, the vocalist must be
brave to try different things and play with
his instrument, his voice… what is helpful
of playing extreme styles is that we can
vary our voice, I say we because I am a
vocalist as well, we can play with it, not
remaining with the same pitch, but going
from deep growls to harsh screams, and I
think that is the only thing they may
improve.
In
just a few words, “Biological Order” is
a really nice start for a young band, I bet
many bands I know would have liked starting
like this, so guy, continue this way because
I’m sure you are going to continue
surprising us.

Metal
I
knew it! That is what I said after I
listened to the first riffs of “It all
ends here” and I read their biography….
“These guys sound pretty Swedish”, came
to my mind at the moment the track started,
and they are Swedish. I know, I know…
sometimes it is a little uncomfortable to be
tagged, but we have to be sincere. The first
band that popped up my mind was, without any
doubt, At the Gates… I really liked
listening to a Swedish band with such sound,
due to the fact that most bands that are
into this type of Metal tend to play a more
poppy and even gay style. It is true that
when listening to the 4 tracks this Promo CD
brings us you can find some more melodic
structures combined to the aggressive parts,
such as in “Insipid Mind”, but this
mixture does not affect the sense of their
music, no way, it even gives their tracks
some melancholic atmosphere, and that
combination was great… it was like a
navigation through feelings… from a little
anger and desperation to melancholy; In some
way it made me travel to some time in my
past when I used to spend time with a friend
of mine who is bipolar, and guys, let me
tell you something…when a song can make
you feel part of it, or it can transmit you
some feeling is because the musicians really
feel what they do.. and this is not so easy.
Great job guys… I would actually like to
listen to your future releases… Keep horns
up and do not let that greatstyle as Swedish Metal is die…
