OF SODOM (Australia)::::......

by Morbius - Vocals)
You are almost 3 years of formation. However most of the
members comes from previ os bands such ANATOMY and
HELLSPAWN. I would
like to turn back and remember some positive and negative
moments of your musical careers.
of Sodom was formed in 2010 by Lord Slayer and I. We began
writing the tracks for our first recording. We then
completed the line up with members from bands such as
Anatomy, Hellspawn, Hobbs Angel Of Death and Belligerent
Intent. The most negative I can remember was probably
attendance to shows, but every band will experience that at
some point. The positive for me is Scars of Sodom. Every
band I have been involved in over the years has led me to
this point. I am fortunate to be playing with the best
musicians in Aussie Metal.
2. Your musical approach is mostly focused on
extreme black metal, however you have introduced some epic
moments with great instrumentalization. Could you please
tell us a little more about your
Slayer wrote all the songs to our first release 'Bound By
Deaths Chains'. We have many influences, Black and Death
Metal is the core of what we write but sometimes we add a
little melodic chaos. It depends of what the song needs or
where we want it to go.
3. I am curious to know more things about your
debut album “Bound By Deaths Chains”. Where did you
record? What kind of critics have you received so far?
debut 'Bound By Death Chains' was recorded at Throw the Goat
studios in Melbourne Australia. We haven't had anyone critic
it because we haven't officially released it, we are looking
for the appropriate host to bring our music to the masses.
Interested labels/distro should get in contact.
4. You've been playing some shows recently; are live
shows a central aspect of SCARS OF SODOM? What have been the
best and worst live experiences you've had?
performances are an integral part of Scars of Sodom, we are
a visual commanding band. Every show we do gets better and
we welcome all that come to see us into the Church of Sodom.
5. The song I like the most from your album is
“Abbey Of Thelema”, could you please pick this song and
reveal the lyrical and musical aspect as well as mention if
there is a special story behind?
song 'Abbey Of Thelema' is loosely based around the life of
occult master Aleister Crowley. After seeing the documentary
"The Wickedest Man In The World' it inspired me to
write about him and his achievements as an occultist,
explorer, pervert etc.
6. Are there any certain religious or
philosophical beliefs within the band? What are your
attitudes towards fans that like your music but do not have
develops their own interpretation of what they believe based
of teachings, experiences whatever. If someone doesn't have
the same belief as us but likes our music thats ok, it's the
metal we create that they are drawn to.
7. How would you define Black metal? In your opinion, how much
did the black metal scene change compared to the late
are different genres blending with black metal. Black Metal
is always changing and evolving. The cult bands of the 80's
such as Bathory, Venom, Sarcofago inspired legions of metal
heads to play Black Metal, they started the evil feeling.
The 90's developed into something different, the music
became more extreme and burning churches became the thing to
do. I think now days its more about the music and that evil
8. what do you think about the current Black
Metal scene worldwide. Which are the bands you have the
biggest respect for?
are some really great bands out there right now. We have
respect for bands like Nocturnal Graves, Gospel Of The
Horns, Watain, Behemoth, Bathory & Beherit.
9. What would you consider the hardest part about
playing in an Underground band?
hardest part about being in an underground band is probably
10. Well, I´ve got no
more questions! What would you say to our readers in
to the South American metal heads we hope to be playing a
show in Brazil next year. Cheers Gorthaur and The Pain
