SPREE From italy is a band performing thrash metal in the
old school vein as they said: "Our goal is not to make modern music, but making kick-ass music for a kick-ass
Greetings here. Let´s start with short intro story. Where
did you dig out the name? When did you first time got
involved in metal?
I think we all know the Italian situation I'm not here to explain it would take too much, but the issue is that people are very frustrated and angry from this, and does not allow young people to realize their dreams, we are angry about this and we let off steam by playing thrash because the alternative would be to kill all .... from this Murder Spree. We met in 2010 and we started playing together. From the very beginning we started playing thrash.
2. How would you characterize the development of
your band during this 3 years of existence? What are your
greatest achievements and downfalls?
In these 3 years we have grown a lot both in the executive and in the composition. Three years of rehersal, live near and far our city, we met so many people so many other bands really strong and record our first cd / ep. The best moments were playing with bands like Extrema, Fingernails, Amassado, Sudden Death, and many other bands.
would you describe MURDER SPREE as a whole? Is there
anything that makes the band different compared to most new
and upcoming bands?
Surely our strong point is the freshness, charisma, the feeling that we have with the public. our songs are old school but if you come to a show of Murder Spree seems new stuff, this is why we have a great chemistry between us members of the band, talk to us old school / new school is not valid for MS. Our goal is not to make modern music, but making kick-ass music for a kick-ass
4. I am curious to know
more things about your debut EP “Mediabomb”. Tell us
something about the main idea of the 6 tracks. Where did you
record? Did you have any problems in studio and all sorts of
interesting details for our readers?
Songs containing mediabomb depict the ideas of 4 Italian guys who are tired and frustrated of Italian society in general and the liability of the people to the underground music scene, Mediabomb is like a message saying'' hey you wake up?! stop television, go to concerts, drink, smoke, laugh, girls, but you're not at home watching the fucking television!! '' (This is linked to the cover) ..... 6 pieces were written in 2011, a year after we first met then they are not the first songs written but are the most important for us in this moment of our lives because it reflects our thoughts, the album which will be released this year 'will contain songs written before and after. was recorded near Rome in Boris Music Studio we have not had any major problems in the record even though it was our first studio work indeed it was fun and made us gain
Do you have serious opportunities for live shows in
your Area? How many times per month can you play live? What
are the most memorable shows that you played?
If you want to play live, there are opportunities, but no one ever will pay, and the premises must be lucky if there are people to see the concert .... the guys here in Italy do not have a job and then have no money to go out at night, in 2012 we played even 1 or 2 times a week, now we are preparing for album and play a little 1 time per month ..... the most beautiful live were the one with the Extrema, Fingernails and other evenings with underground bands where the place was full.
I always enjoy hearing what life is like outside of a
band. What can you share with us about what your lives are
like outside of the bands?
Outside of the band our life is normal there who does little jobs or who can study if you have money, when we have no rehersal or something we leave home to go drinking places, smoking, go to see other bands is all pretty quiet ... I know I'm contradicting with what I've written before, but in Italy it's all weird ... the kids do not have a job ... but they have money to drink or smoke then there are concerts when nobody has money hahahaha .. this is the italy .. not never
recorded your first release back in 2012, so I’m guessing
you’ve come a bit since. How’s the writing process going,
any plans so far for next recording session?
Spring/summer to go into the studio for our first album ... the music of the base will be those of mediabomb but the new pieces are faster, more complex, and the sound will be more full, complete and modern.
8. What would you consider the hardest part about
playing in an Underground band?
Finding the money for the merch, record and move, the fact that you do not pay and that people would rather stay home and watch TV instead of coming to support .... a kind of snobbery general.
9. what do you think about the current Thrash
Metal scene worldwide. Which are the bands you have the
biggest respect for?
I think there are lots of valid thrash those who love you are like most Gamabomb, Crisix, Municipal waste, Violator, Wabringer, Aggression ... of course Metallica, Pantera, Nuclear Assault, dri, sod, Exodus, Motorhead etc.
10. No more
questions my friend. Just thanks for your time and good luck
for your future plans. Closing is yours…
Thank you for opportunity, always supported your scene UxFxTx!
