"Inspiration is something that should come naturally & I don't think our concept gives any boundaries that would affect in our writing process or visual image etc. Art in general shouldn't have any boundaries, because they prevent development and growth & that's pretty much what this band is all about."

1. Hails friends, If you look back at the band from the time you started to where you are at now how would you like to describe that journey?

- M.V.: Greetings. This journey started in 2010 as a two man band, which it was until late 2013 when we found our drummer. Back then in 2010 we wanted to make music that inspired us at the moment: Music from the so called dark side, black metal, certain soundtracks etc. Pretty soon we started to break some genre-boundaries and left the concept of black metal more behind. It is still there within the spirit of our music, but our goal is not to try fitting into something. Be it genre or style, group of people etc.

2. When you have a clear concept, as you guys seem to have, how hard is it to realize the ideas?

- A: Inspiration is something that should come naturally & I don't think our concept gives any boundaries that would affect in our writing process or visual image etc. Art in general shouldn't have any boundaries, because they prevent development and growth & that's pretty much what this band is all about.

3. Who came up with the band's name CURSE UPON A PRAYER, the logo and everything? Does it have any deeper meaning for you?

-A: I came up with the name & also did the logos etc. The name had to be something that we both agree & we can equally relate to.

- M.V.: The meaning of Curse Upon A Prayer is the cold feeling of truth inside a man that deceives himself by praying a lie.

4 - Speaking of your debut album, tell us something more about it, where it was recorded, mixed and mastered? Did the final product surpass your expectations?

- M.V.: The songs for Lands of Demise were recodred during 2011-2013. We recorded it ourselves and pretty much did everything ourselves. It works, but we want to do better.

-A: It was a long & painful process. Our equipment was pretty much broken & we didn't even have a permanent place to record. But on the other hand, all that chaos & misery had a positive effect on it somehow. You must suffer for your art.

5. Once you have released a record, how do you deal with the fact that from now on things are out of your control? You can’t control if people will like it. You can’t control how people experience the music etc.

-A: If that would concern me, I wouldn't do this at all.

- M.V.: We don't release anything until we ourselves are satisfied with it at the time. When it goes beyond our hands, people have total freedom of speech whether they like it or not. Of course it's good if some listeners experience it in a similar way as we do, and that's also our duty to pass on our work in a way that makes that experience alive.

6. Now you have revealed a brand new song called “Divinus Mortis”. I have to remark the fact this is the shortest song you have wrote so far, is there any intentional fact on this? Explian us.

- A: I believe it's our fastest song as well, so I could blame our drummer. And to be honest, there has never been any standards considering the length of our songs so I don't really pay attention to that.

7. Said that, I assume you are in process of preparing a new album, how could you tell in advance of the focusing on this new tunes? I have noticed a more bombastic and fresh sound compared with the old songs.

-A: It's too early to say anything about the new album soundwise etc. since we haven't started the actual recordings yet. But of course it's going to be more solid and sound very different than the first album, since we now have a full line-up working on it. We have rehearsed some of the new material and I believe this is going the be a whole new era for this band. This album holds a strong, certain message as well & it may affect on many people in many ways.

- M.V.: The new album is going to be stronger in both sound and lyrics. I can tell in advance, that the album will be against islam and the spineless governments that are trying to hide problems by criminalizing any criticism towards the spreading of islam in Europe.

8. Looking at your photos, it seems like you put alot of attention on your image as a band. Have you developed an aesthetic that is uniquely yours?

- M.V.: Yes, we have developed the image since the day one and we consider it as an important part of our band.

9. Do you have any explanation as to why there are so many bands in Finland? Is life so boring in Finland that you have to start a band to have something to do?

- M.V.: I could say that life in Finland is boring, we have laws for everything, we have to pay for everything, but we can't have anything. Only crime pays off in Finland.

10. You have recently added a new member to the line-up, could you tell us a bit about him and the improvement of the band´s sound with this new addition on drums?

-A: He is an excellent drummer with a convinsing background in music, so we are very pleased to have him in this band. He definetly brings more depth to our songs & they seem to be more accurate and breathe more while he's drumming.

11. That it means you should be able to perfrom live appearances now?? I notice you have not made any live shows yet, correct if I am wrong.

- M.V.: We are able to perform live, yes. Now that we've found the fourth member, there won't be obstacles.

-A: There are already some serious plans for our first show as well. I can say that it will be something truly tremendous.

12. Are there any certain religious or philosophical beliefs within the band? What are your attitudes towards fans that like your music but do not have your ideals?

- M.V.: To live and to let live in general. Growing stronger, to evolve. That is why our lyrics have gone more against islam, because islam will certainly not let live.

13. No more questions my friend. Just thanks for your time and good luck for your future plans. Closing is yours…

- Growing never comes without pain.
