The thrash metal scene in the larger area of Heidenheim, Germany was almost non-existent. But the times of suffering come now to an end. The thrash-vacuum has been filled. Founded in 2013, Mutard from Heidenheim gained momentum with the completion of the four-strong lineup in spring 2014. The great thrash and crossover bands oft he 80’s like Slayer, Sodom or D.R.I. influenced the creative output of Mutard as well as newer representatives of the genre like Warbringer, Havok, Toxic Holocaust and of course Municipal Waste.
After a short period of rehearsing, original songs were written. The guys don’t care if their music sounds „old school“ or not. They play Thrash the way they like it, which is straight Thrash Metal with influences from Punk and Hardcore. The band found the perfect mix between super fast Thrash riffs and neckbreaking midtempo parts you can bang your head to. Five of those songs were pressed on CD for their demo „Zombie Addiction“ in november 2014, which was recorded in their own, moldy basement and was mixed and mastered at „Dusk Sound Studio“.
The band’s potential is recognizable on this record, although Mutard still have many more songs up their sleeves which will be recorded for a full-length album in the near future. The five musicians don’t take themselves not too seriously and having fun is the most important factor during the rehearsals. Their lyrics reflect that perfectly, because Mutard doesn’t write political or sociocritical songs. Instead they borrow clichés, typically for this genre and carry them humorously to the extremes.
In only one year as a live band, they already performed several (international) nice gigs for example as opener for the US-Thrashers from Lich King. The mid-term goal is to play larger stages, reach bigger audiences and send them into the circle pit to die.
You should „keep an eye on Mutard. Because they have what it takes to find their place in today’s thrash metal“
